Here's What I Found

on our trip. These are just a few things I found along the way. You'll have to come to Warrenton Texas at the Zapp Hall Antique Show to see the rest. I can't wait to get there and start displaying, and with all the things I've found I'll probably need at least a week to haul it all and then arrange it, but somehow I'll have to get it done in a few days. I guess I'll be burning the midnight oil to get it all done.

Hopefully, this will encourage you to come out to the shows. You never know what you'll find or who you'll see!

What a trip

We went to the Canton Texas Flea market and stopped at a few other places along the way. Every time we take a day trip it's never a short distance, sometimes I feel we've covered half the state of Texas, but we always have the best time.

We first ran into Peg of French Vanilla. She was on the hunt for great things. We later saw Carolyn of Carolyn Westbrook Home and Heidi who has a shop in Ardmore Oklahoma, The Cloverleaf Boutique. Here were the awesome displays we saw in Canton.

Hector had a great collection of vintage trophies. I bought a few with him and he said he has a huge collection he's bringing to Warrenton. Be sure and look for him and Susie at The Tin Star Field and The Rose of Texas show:

This was Melonie of The Seed Box Antiques booth in the Civic Center:

Next, we were on to see Judy Hill of JHillDesigns booth in The Arbors:

Here's Junkin Buddy w/ Peg:

The road then led us to see Jo Harmon in Quinlan:

I found so many cool things with Jo, a truck load. Next time you're in Quinlan Texas, stop be and see her at the Hunt County Trade Center, Hwy. 751, Shop #18 & 19 or call her at 903/456-4129.

Our final trip led us to Poetry Texas to see Mindy's space. Does anyone know where Poetry Texas is. Well I didn't and apparently my GPS tracker didn't either. It was a cute place to visit. I went in hopes of loading my couch I had bought from her, but guess what, no room at the Inn or Truck (I mean). We were loaded to the max, but she graciously offered to bring it to me in Warrenton:

Look who was all comfortable, what a cutie!! My next post I'll show you what I found. We're off to Warrenton tomorrow to check out the scenery. Can't wait to show you what the shows look like minus the tents and people. You'll be surprised!!

Update on Jenn

Deb emailed earlier and wanted everyone to know that she really appreciates the love, prayers and support for Jenn and her baby. Please continue to pray as things are up and down for them. Some of Jenn's tests came back normal, but other tests showed some concern. Her chest X-ray from this morning showed a little fluid on her lungs, and her blood pressure is still fluctuating so her Doctors have decided to keep her in the labor and delivery area. They have increased her blood pressure meds to try and stablize it and are adding a med to get the fluid off her lungs. Deb says it's still a take it one day at a time situation. She said to tell everyone how much they appreciate the prayers and she can feel them surrounding them and filling Jenn's room. God is with us and in control, she said, and I so agree!! Thanks to everyone again for all your prayers.

Please pray...

for Deb's daughter, Jennifer, and her baby. She's currently in the hospital and they really need our prayers that all will be well with her pregnancy.

He will give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11
UPDATE FROM DEB:
Some test they preformed were good, but they are waiting on additional tests which will be back around 3pm this afternoon (If you can please continue in prayer for all test to come back with good results). Her blood pressure is being managed and the baby's heartbeat is good. So far, there is still plenty of fluid where it needs to be. Deb said to thank everyone so much and to please let everyone know how much their prayers and love mean to her and her daughter right now.

Let The Countdown Begin!

If you've read my blog any in the past year, you know when it starts to get closer to the Round Top/Warrenton Antique Shows, I get really excited about these shows. Yes, part of the excitement will be to find the coolest junk this side of the Texas border, and to see all the awesome displays of my friends and those I don't know that well but love to see their things, but for me the best part is getting to see my friends that I only get to see twice a year.

Mostly, it's because we are all so busy or some of them live out of state and this is our time (my vacation) where we can sit back, LAUGH, have a GOOD TIME, catch up with each other, and play dress up during the PROM (that's a whole other post you'll have to wait and read about)!

It's a special league of people, unique like none other, talented beyond words or pictures, and just purely absolutely the best girls and guys to hang out with that I've ever known. We're like family and it just doesn't get any better. I think I can say this for us all, while we don't get to visit during the year other than by phone or email, you wouldn't think we'd never stopped seeing each other because when we get together we just pick up where we left off.

I'd like to start this post with my official Warrenton Texas countdown. Yee ha--that's Texas lingo for the most exciting shout out ever!! For me, as of yesterday it's officially one month (3 weeks, 6 days as of today) before we load up the trailer, trucks (yes plural), and now my RV to head to the country. As as matter of fact we've decided to head that way in the next week to check out the scenery!! See how excited I am already, heading that way early.

During the past, I've received several emails inquiring about where to stay, shop, eat and I'll be doing a series of informative places. While I'm not an expert by any means, I've done this show for so many years and shopped it even longer, I've made some great contacts and seen some great places and want to pass this information on to you. Let me just mention, if you haven't already booked your place to stay you better make plans today. Hotels/Motels and B&B's start booking from the last show six months ago and you may have to hurry to find a place near by. Let me start out by mentioning these websites to at least get you started on finding a place:

These B&B's may already be booked, but it can't hurt to try:
Linda and Ludmil at Willow's Nest Farms
Deb at Heritage House and you might check out her blog, What's Deb Doing
B&B's main website: http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/warrenton-texas.html

She's a Trend Setter

I thought I would be the first to let you know about Carolyn Westbrook's new blog, her redesigned website and online magazine, but I see several have already beat me to it. That's great, because the more people that know about her site, the more that will visit, right? Anyways, I'm sure we've all seen Carolyn's great style, not only in magazines, the books she's written, but if you've ever visited the Canton Texas Flea Market I'm sure you've seen her at the Arbors. Also, if you've been to Zapp Hall during the Spring or Fall Antique Shows, you've no doubt seen her cute cottage on the grounds. However, if you've never heard of Carolyn, well you are in for a treat. She carries beautiful slipcovers, pillows, vintage inspired furnishings, outdoor garden items, just to name a few. Check out her website, blog, or online magazine and you'll no doubt be inspired.

(all photo's: CWH)

Stop by and welcome her! Can't wait to see what great finds she'll have in less than a month at Zapp Hall.

Relaxing Day

What a great day I had yesterday, redoing my house and just really enjoying my day off. Too bad there aren't four days in the work week, I could really get used to this. I did redo my home, put away things that weren't inspiring me at the moment and just cleaned and relaxed with a big glass of sweet tea (yes in Texas even in the Winter months we have cold sweet tea)!

I've received some emails wanting to see the inside of my home and living with three men (okay I'm now down to two since one moved out)--get your minds out of the gutter, my sons and husband, ha ha. Anyways, it's not always easy to have a kept home. They work so hard and just want to come home and relax and honestly I don't mind. After redoing my living room last night, I reaped the benefits of just relaxing with my guys and talking and laughing, I so cherish these moments. Here's a small portion of what I did with my day:

I have several vignettes in my home of religious items. I'm always drawn to crucifixes and old bibles; the more worn or tattered the better. The white roses are in an old minnow bucket I bought from Melanie and Bryan at The Urban Market and the vase that has all the crosses came from Ann's shop and the other one I bought from Peg also at The Urban Market. I thought it would be cute to pack a picnic lunch in too sometimes. It's just the right size.

Here's a view of the other side of my living room and mantle, which I change out frequently.

I just adore this angel, with her chippy white/pink paint. I bought her many many years ago from my junkin buddy.

Of course you've seen my trophy collection before, but I added a new one to the bunch I found this past Winter in Brenham Texas at one of the Antique Shops there.

I have a new blog to share with you tomorrow.

Thank you so much for following:
