5 DAYS!! & It's Vintage Friday

Today is Friday and if this isn't enough to get you excited then maybe this will.  If you are coming out to the biggest Antique shows this side of the Hill Country, that would be in Round Top, Warrenton, Carmine, Shelby, Fayetteville and all the other small towns that have antique shows, YOU ARE 5 DAYS AWAY from shopping until your feet are black (brownish dirty okay) from being out in the fields all day, your body will be tired, but you'll have had more fun than the law should allow (As Deb would say)!!

And it's also another one of Debra's Vintage Inspiration Fridays.  I wish I had time to go through my stock pile of so many pics that I have but I'll be busy packing up the rest of my things for the show.  Besides, you've probably seen them all anyways, but if you haven't, and you are curious just look through my entire blog (you'll be here all day) but this should keep you busy!

I snapped this shot of one of the Warrenton girls getting ready for the prom/antique show/and now she's lost her keys (just kidding but it does make for a good story):

Be sure and visit Debra to see who all is participating in Vintage Friday.  Happy early Weekend!

9 More Days

I hope if you coming to the Round Top/Warrenton Antique Shows that you are excited to be here!  Yes my friends we are about 9 days away from the shows starting.  I am so excited and can't wait to be here, it's like going to camp when you were a kid and then waiting for Christmas Day all wrapped up into one emotional event.  If you've never been, it's hard to explain how much fun it is, despite the hard work that's also involved, it's still A LOT OF FUN!!

As I mentioned in a previous post, there is already a buzz in the fields going on.  A few Vendors are already setting up.  I took these pictures when we were in Warrenton this past weekend.

See my Marburger friends, the tents are going up.  See you in less than 9 days!

10 Days & Magnolia Pearl

We are 10 days away from preview weekend starting.  For this countdown, I wanted to show case one vendors that can be found at The Marburger Farms Antique Show and that is Robin and John's company, Magnolia Pearl. Women are lined up on opening day to get into her booth and I've seen them literally running for her booth. Then, it's just packed all day long with girls trying on her bit of heaven designs.  These clothes are just so beautiful and the detail that goes into her creations are just timeless. You can wear them each season. Enjoy her creations:

Ruffles, who doesn't love ruffles.  This is just gorgeous.

I think this one has to be my favorite.

(All photo's: Magnolia Pearl)

Of course, I also love the opportunity to see Robin's place.  It's equally gorgeous.  Maybe I'll see you at Marburger or the shows.  It won't be long.

11 Days!!

Before the shows start.  There's already a buzz in Warrenton from what I'm told:

13 Days Away & A New Vendor

Can you believe we are getting closer and closer to being at the shows!!  13 days away and counting my friends.  To continue the count, I want to tell you about a new vendor that will be at Zapp Hall this Fall and they are my friends Cindy and her mom Charlotte.  They've been in the antique biz for many years and at one time owned a shop together.  I know Cindy loves to shop and I'm pretty sure her mom does too and from what I can tell they find awesome things.  Take a look at what they had at the Montgomery Antique Show this past May:

These doors she had from Louisiana sold right off the bat, they were really cool.

They'll be located in the big tent next to my booth, so please stop in and welcome them.  So...tell me, are you coming to the shows and if so will this be your first time?  See ya there.

14 Days & Moonlight Hollow

Ladies and Gents, I hope that if you are coming out to the shows that the excitement you are experiencing right now just can't be contained!! I am so happy we are 14 DAYS away from the Round Top/Warrenton Texas Antique shows starting, yes sirree, you'll be in Junk Heaven before you know it.

So, as I normally do when we are getting close to the shows I continue my countdowns.  For the next few posts, I want to highlight vendors that you can find at the shows.  This post and the next one will be new vendors that will be at Zapp Hall

The first vendor is Malisa of Moonlight Hollow.  Malisa is a very talent mixed media artist as I would consider her.  She not only works with paper creations but she does these amazing things with fabric items as well.  She's featured her work at various shops in Texas, like Heritage Antiques and Winnie and Tulula's, and now you can come and see for yourself at her booth.  She said she's going to be in an outside tent at Zapp Hall.

Malisa says that her booth will be a little different and it'll include things she loves, she's calling it a paper moon photo booth with Pent-Up Photos. Her things will be based on the vintage paper moon postcards that she collects.  She's recreated a paper moon scene and will be taking and selling photos which will celebrate the Zapp Hall experience.  She said she will also be selling personalized items which feature the photos.  Her booth will be unique and not like anything you might have seen.

I hope you'll stop by and welcome Malisa and check back tomorrow to see the other new vendor I'll feature.  When you are at the shows, I hope you stop in and say hello and check out their awesome things.

Laurie Anna's on a White Wednesday

Visting LaurieAnna's Vintage Home this past Canton weekend was a real treat.  The talent that her and her crew put together in the shop is just amazing.  Every where I turned there was an inspirational display.  From the beds, to the tables dressed with pumpkins, the beautiful natural wreaths that Rebecca makes to the great smelling soaps with the aroma that hits you the minute you walk in to the store to the beautiful linen clothes.  Well take a look around:

These were so awesome.

Credit for Header Photo from Laurie Anna's.

You'll be here a while if you click on the pictures and study them.  I know I was in her shop a while just seeing all the pretty things that were there.  Be sure to visit her new store that's open only during Canton week.  And please visit Kathleen's blog for all the White Wednesday participants.

15 Days Away From Being In Junkers Paradise

Each season as we near Antique Week in Texas, I try and do pointers for those that have never attended the Round Top/Warrenton Antique Shows.  Since today marks 15 days until the shows start and to continue the countdown I thought I'd offer 15 Flea Market Tips.

Can you believe we are so close to being in Junker's Paradise. The shows have grown so much over the years and the displays only become more fabulous with each show season. I hope these 15 tips are helpful for you:

1.  Wear Comfortable Shoes - I can't stress this enough, not cowboy boots that you are just trying to break in, save those for the Junk Gypsy Prom on September 30th.

2.  Dress in Layers. Sometimes the mornings can be a little chilly here, but it won't take long for the day to warm up.

3.  Bring a shopping cart with a liner to carry your purchases in or bring a large tote bag. Just remember as you purchase things, the tote bag can get heavy.

4.  Bring water and snacks. You need to stay hydrated while you are shopping and snacks will help you keep your energy so you can keep going AND shopping of course.

5.  Bring cash and small bills. Some dealers do not except checks, while most do, but only a small few accept credit cards.

6.  Find a show map to become familiar with all the shows that are here and try to arrive as early as you can at the shows for the best selections. You'd be amazed at just how many towns you can shop at and you don't want to miss any of the cool things. Also please remember not every show opens on the same date. Some open earlier (the weekend before, also referred to as the preview weekend), while others don't open until later in the show like The Marburger Antique Show and The Red Barn. Also, some shows charge an entrance fee but many of them are free of charge. For many shows you can park in one location and walk, but since this show encompasses so many towns it's best to have a plan of what town you want to start at first and where you will go next.  You normally can pick up a copy of The Show Daily at most show locations that will provide all this information you need.

7.  Bring a small notebook and pen to write down what you've purchased and it will also help you remember if you need to go back and pick up things and where it's located. It may be helpful to bring a small measuring tape if you are needing to measure something.

8.  Be nice when working with vendors. You don't know just how hard we all work to find you the coolest things we can, clean it, price, haul it and display it, and courtesy can go a long way in this business.

9.  Remember to inspect what you are purchasing. All sales are final and you can not return an item and expect to get your money back. Shows vendors are also required to charge tax, so if you do not have a tax number, you will have to pay sales tax. However, if you do have a tax number it's always a good idea to carry a copy with you because many will require to see it.

10.  Bring packing materials, blankets, bubble wrap etc. to wrap your purchases in when you get back to your vehicle. Bungee cords or twine are also helpful when tying things down to your vehicle.

11.  Ask vendors if you are looking for certain items but maybe don't see it. Sometimes they have merchandise that is still in their trailers or they may have it and your eye doesn't see it. Also, if you are uncertain about things ask the vendors questions. If you are interested in something the vendor can sometimes offer more information about an item.

12.  There are always parties you can attend at the shows. Find out through the vendors what parties they may know of. Here are just a few that I know of:
**Friday, September 24: Clutter Show Opening Day Party at 4pm**

**Saturday, September 25: Leftover's Antique Shop Party, Brenham Texas**
**Sunday, September 26:  My Blog Party**  ~ you do not have to have a blog to attend.  If you planning on coming, please bring a dish and RSVP here.  Come out and meet others bloggers and vendors.
There are other show parties that you can also attend, you might check with each individual show.

13.  There are some great places to eat during the shows. Ask around, you never know where you might find a place to eat at that otherwise may have been hidden from you. You know there is Royer's at Zapp Hall or Royer's in downtown Round Top, both places offer great food.  And there are several other places we like to go in the evenings that are in different towns, so be sure and ask me.

14.  Watch the weather for the shows. It can be storming one minute, sunny the next, cloudy and over cast on another day and snowing before you know it. Yes we have literally experienced every one of these weather conditions during one show. It happened during one of the Spring Shows, only in Texas!

15.  The most IMPORTANT ONE is to have Fun!! This is your time to find cool stuff and just have fun doing this.

I'd love to know if you have any tips that maybe I haven't mentioned but have worked for you while being at the shows, please share these with us.  And I'd love to meet you, so please stop by my booth at Zapp Hall, I'm located directly in front of the hall.

Last Weekend at Judy's

Happy early Labor Day, hope you have something fun planned this weekend.  It's been such a busy week and I just haven't had time to show you more of my space at Judy's home show last weekend.

The Army mail holder I actually found there in Kilgore at a shop that I like to go to when in that area.  It's turned sideways and has two doors that open with lots of cubby spaces.  It has two hooks on the side that held the mail bags.

It's funny that I didn't even think to take pictures until several things had sold.  I had a really cool mannequin that sold right off the bat and a cute really old brown shoe that had a cute nest in it that was hung on the spring wreath that also sold.

In this picture I really liked this old mail box that once belong to a reverend, it still has his name on it and the chicken egg warmer was really cool too.  I thought it would be great repurposed into an industrial light.

I am loving all the spools of thread piled high:

This great industrial cart was found a while back:

A medical gurney with tallow berries:

It's really too early for tallow berries but I will have plenty in Warrenton for sale.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my booth.  It'll be time again in a few weeks to set up for Warrenton, we are only 18 days away from the shows starting.  We'll be at Zapp Hall, right in front of the Hall.  Tomorrow I'll show you more of the displays that were there.

Inspirational Friday

I'm late to the party with Debra, but I've been busily preparing for company and... my mother's retirement party is tomorrow (so excited for her, almost wish it were me)!  So, I guess better late than never.  I wanted to share three women that have really touched me this year.  Three very couragous women that probably have no idea the impact of what they've gone through has forever touched my life.  Here they are, in no uncertain order:

Cher of The Texas Woman with Deb.  I mean how could you not love this woman.  Her witt alone just keeps you in stitches.  Go over and see the "pet" name that she calls her husband.  You'll laugh, you'll cry, and then you'll be encouraged. She's also an amazing photograher.

This next lady needs no introduction.  The short time she's been in the blogging world and the friends she's made just makes me feel that much more happier to have called her my friend for so so many years.  She's a truely amazing woman.  The talent she has in one finger just blows me away.  And the funny part is, she can't seem to realize just how talented she is and that's my friend Ann of The Tin Rabbit:

The last woman on my list is Lanna of Antique Queens.  She has one of the absolute best attitudes in this business that I've seen and the energy, wow, not sure that I could keep up with her.  She seems to have a strength to her that is quiet yet you can definately see it.  I am amazed how she's continued to run a shop, all with a great attitude, and still go through what she's gone through.

You ask what made me want to feature these women for this post, well they all share this common bond and seeing the courage they had to face this head on just makes me so glad they are my friends and thankful that God brought them through this.  Because of them I made sure and went this past week to get my checkup, so for this, I thank you all!

Inspirational White Wednesday at Judy's

"Inspiration" is the only word that came to mind when I think of Judy Hill's place and since today is another one of Kathleen's White Wednesday's and there will be plenty of white things to see here, I'm combining the two.  Every room was filled with the vintage details she's known for and you would have had to have gone over it several times so that your eye didn't miss anything.  I always enjoy attending Judy's shows because I know she's going to present the best displays and always puts her signature touch on things.  Her displays can't be copied even if someone wanted to because it would need Judy's touch.

Take a look for yourself:

These first few pictures are of her dining room.

This was in her entry way:

Moving down the hall to one of the bedrooms:

Another bedroom:

This was so pretty:

This area was near her kitchen:

Loved these columns:

I have two round columns I purchased a while back and I just can't seem to part with mine.

See even the outside was pretty:

I'll show more of the show later in the week.   Happy White Wednesday!

Thank you so much for following:
