This past Christmas was a strange time; I was really in the Christmas spirit right after Thanksgiving and couldn't hardly wait to decorate. Then as the weeks went on, I was getting ready for it to be over with. I think, as I've heard from so many others, that it's become so commercialized and we've lost what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. I now find myself wanting to simplify and get rid of things, so I've started packing up and moving around and I'm really craving simplicity and serenity. Maybe it's with the new year around the corner, the feeling of nesting, or just wanting to not have so much "stuff" and focus on what's really important in my life, my family.

I know what you mean Theresa...I want to really edit my belongings too....but I do have so many treasures in my art room that I just cannot part with...but as for kitchen items, and other knick knacks it's definitely time to heave-ho! ReplyDeleteThis simplicity theme must be something many of us are experiencing because I have begun to take a hard look at my environ and remove things that are not productive or do not have sentimental value. This has really put me in a calmer, steadier state of mind and I am looking forward to the new year with a fresh perspective.
However, I will still be trolling Warrenton, I will just be a bit more judicious in my acquisitions.

I'm with you on simplicity. We returned from our trip Sunday and gave ourselves a couple days of rest before beginning the dismantle of Christmas. Today is the day.
I have some plans for our living room, for the new year. We'll see how that evolves.

Theresa, I got that same feeling too even though I did not decorate too much for Christmas. Some people think since I have a store I switch things from home and vice versa, the truth is, I love what I have now, it makes me and my family feel cozy and when I loose that feeling then it will be time to pack it up.

Each year I become less and less enthusiastic about Christmas and I think because it is so commercial. That has bothered me for a very long time. I didn't put out too many decorations this year. I kept things fairly simple and I have a feeling that next year will be even simpler yet.

Teresa, You and I feel the same way right now. My resolution is to simplify my life. I'm not really sure how to do it, but I'm working on several ideas. I too get bogged down with "stuff" this time of year and start thinking of how to pair it down. thanks for the Peaceful pictures.
