Are You a Barn Chick?

When Karen first asked if I wanted to participate in her Barn Chick post, I thought what a great idea because I love old barns.  I wish I could say that I have traveled the country side to see all of these awesome barns, but since I've been so super busy lately, and I knew that Karen's fun post was coming up, I let my fingers do the walking.  Please be sure and go over and visit her site (just click on her name) for all that are participating with her barn chick blog party today and it's not too late to sign up.

You know you can't have a barn without having barn animals, like this cute chicken above.  I absolutely love driving down country roads searching for old homes or barns or anything that really catches my eye. It's one of my favorite pasttimes to do.  I'll usually tell my husband, STOP, and he's say what is it as he hits the brakes. I'll say oh it's nothing, just wanted you to stop and let me see that old home place. Sometimes I do get out and walk the grounds and he'll stay behind in the truck and then he'll say, we better go before you get arrested for trespassing.

What is about an old home place or an old barn that draws me in. I love imagining what the family was like that lived on the old places. One of my dreams is that one day I'll have an old home with a barn so that I can have "barn sales" and all the farm animals I want, yes chickens included.

Here are a few barns that caught my eye when I was searching for them:

field barn

This old barn reminded me so much of being on my aunt and uncle's place.  I can envision running through the field after my uncle, who would already be on his tractor and had left me behind, but I was determined to go riding with him on the land.  It was a time for exploring and feeding the cows and trying not get bitten by snakes.

This barn caught my eye for the white shabby look of it:

Now wouldn't this be a great barn to hold sales at.

I loved the simplistic look of this barn:

This one was a small version of a barn, maybe more like a shed, but I still thought it was cute:

I had to show this barn because since it's surrounded by snow and it's been so hot here lately, that I'm already dreaming of cold weather:

You'll have no complaints from me if it ever arrives in Texas.

And, this last barn, I think I found on a wedding site, but it makes such a pretty statement:

Barn weddings are just so much fun.
Thanks Karen for inviting me to participate with this post.  Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend.

  18. Thank you for finding time in your busy life (I know summers are especially hectic for many people) to find such wonderful barns to share with us.
It was like the recent Rooster party - I've known since early July and gathered my things, but not til the day of the post that I dashed something together.
Aren't barns the most wonderful (versatile) buildings.

  21. I am also a barn lover and as an artist, I have painted quite a few of them on canvas! I love your pics.Guess I need to check the web and see what I can find! I live in the deep south (Florida) and in south Fl there aren't too many old barns. North FL is a different story..lots there.
