I know you've probably read before that I'm a magazine/book junkie. Yes, I admit it, I get my decorating fix from books of all kinds and the many decorating/blog sites. I love to read books and spend hours combing through the many I have. I probably could literally build a library to house all my books in. The rolling ladder would be a nice touch because they would go from floor to ceiling with all I have.
Some of my favorite books are the seasonal ones like Mary Randolph Carter's, Garden Junk; Vintage Christmas Crafts by Sara Toliver who showcases Debbie Dusenburry's home (and if you haven't heard her shop is closing, sadly I never got to see it in person but loved it nonetheless from afar); Seasons at Seven Gates Farm; and then there's Terry John Woods' book "New Farmhouse Style".
I can remember one of the first times I saw an article on Terry John Woods, it was in Country Living and it was a holiday edition. I loved seeing the pictures of Christmas at his Farmhouse. Then, this year I discovered his book New Farmhouse Style and loved his style even more. It's a book that you can't seem to put down and each time you reach for it, it has a new discovery of ideas. I love his simplistic decorating ideas he presents. I've even copied some of his ideas, like the wreath "one horse sleigh":
Here are more ideas from his book:

He also has a blog that you should check out and he's on Facebook too which is updated more than his blog.
The next set of ideas are from the Seasons at Seven Gates Farm book.
A wall of angels:
This book I love to read especially during the Spring time, but it can be read all year.
Here were the pictures of Debbie's home that appeared in the Vintage Christmas Crafts book, but I know she's changed it many times since these were published, but they are still inspiring to look at:
This last picture also was included in this book:
This concludes my Christmas series of ideas that are inspiring for the season. I hope you enjoyed all the posts I did and my next post I'll show you pictures of Christmas in my home. Happy Thursday to you!

Hey Theresa, it could be worst, I mean a worst addiction. You get a little credit for that under continued education. Doctors do it, why not us? Have a Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeletePD Love the simplicity of all that decor but I have so much stuff it will never work for me.

Hey Theressa,
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of pics. I thought it was interesting how the pics from Seven Gates Farm are still 'stylish' today...how many years ago was that? I just loved those two guys!
Well blessings for a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy..

Pure inspiration Theresa. I think our book libraries would be very similar, because I love your style. I love Terry's book. I wish I could decorate ten different houses and live in them at the same time, because of the love I have for so many styles. But alas, I only have my little prefab house to decorate.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to come by and wish you the merriest Christmas ever, and send all my love.
Hello Theresa, love all of the Christmas photos. Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas with your family.
ReplyDeleteI hope your New Year is a healthy and great one too. Hugs, sandi
