House Sale

Several times a year, I've been known to drive several hours to attend a "House Sale". If you are unfamiliar with this, it's where just about everything in the person's house is for sale. You think a sale at the Mall is crazy, well you've never seen ladies like I have at these House Sales, grabbing, and placing "SOLD" stickers on everything in site. It's not a garage sale or an estate sale; house sales are priced similar to what you'd pay at an Antiques Shop, sometimes more, and there are very rarely any bargains to be found. You might ask, well why would you want to go, if there are no bargains and you might pay more than you would at a garage sale or estate sale. Because they are just so much fun!! Normally, when my husband doesn't go, a car load of my good friends and I head out for the day. It's a chance to visit with my friends, when normally I wouldn't have had the chance. And, yes we could just go on a day of antiquing or to a restaurant, but this is so much more fun. The lady that hosts these sales finds the coolest things; things I've not seen where I shop and she displays them in such a unique way. You'll just have to see for yourself. I'm not sure if they have house sales in other states, I've asked ladies that don't live in Texas, and they've never been to one. Hope you enjoy the photos.

  2. Okay, I live in Texas, San Antonio, I've never been to a house sale, how can I find out about these, does this lady have a mailing list. Please, please spill the beans. It sounds like loads of fun. I don't mind to drive long distances to find a fun day of shopping, much to my husband's dismay. I got a new car in Feb of 2006, the first in 16 years, it had 200 miles on it, It just went over 31,000 miles this weekend. The worst part is I haven't left Texas once. But I do get up and down the road a bit.

  3. Oops, I also wanted to ask exactly where you will be located in Warrenton, I know near Zapp Hall, but where? My girls and I are counting the days. It's not officially Spring to us, until we see the bluebonnets on the way to Warrenton.

  4. Hi Jean and Carol: Thanks for stopping by.

Carol: My tent will be right in front of Zapp Hall. If you are standing at the steps of the hall, I'm immediately to the left. I'm the only tent that backs up to the hall. I'm already headed that way this next weekend to set up my tent, but won't officially start selling until Friday. Hope to see you there.
Also, if you will email me I'll give you the details to the house sale. I couldn't respond to you.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

  7. Hi Marianna: Thanks so much for vising my blog. There are really cool places in San Antonio, resale shops, Antiques, etc. but it's been a while since I've been. I'm sure any of the locals could help you. Also, since you'll be hitting Texas fast and furious, if you have time check out Gruene Tx (pronounced Green), for cool shops and good food. It's not far from SA. And, if there's time, you must come to the Round Top Show. I'm located in Warrenton, about 3 miles down from there in front of Zapp Hall. Ask anyone where Zapp is and they'll tell you. If you find the Junk Gypsies space, I'm around the corner from them. If you get a chance to go to Austin Tx, check out Uncommon Objects on Congress Ave (their website is on my home page). Happy Travels and have a safe trip here.

  9. Theresa, I'm sure my daughters and I have brought home treasures from your space the past few shows. My email address is: jcdas@msn.com if you have time to let me know about the House shows. I would love to make it to Leftovers this weekend, but that's too much traveling over the couple of weekends for us. We'll be in Warrenton on Sat Mar 31 and then again on Thur evening and Friday for junk prom and more shopping.
    Smiles,
    Carol

  12. Looks like you haven't an extra inch of space for the metal cabinet...it is for sale at Warehouse #4...info at the bottom of that post where I featured it.

  13. Theresa,

Thanks for the info. I wish we had time to visit Gruene...maybe next time. I just found out that my brother is moving to New Braunfels this summer. He couldn't resist the call of home, as it were, after two years of living in Alaska! So hopefully next time we are down we will get to spend a little more time in that area.
