Assemblage

I've previously told you about a House Sale that I drive three hours to attend and I went today. I must say I was totally blown away by Judy's creative spirit. Her Spring Open House was awesome. She was quoted awhile back as calling her look "Assemblage", so I couldn't think of a more appropriate title. Here is her beautiful home:

In her dining room, she took the top tray from an old steamer truck and used it as a shelf. The lamp in the background is lighting up the shelf. She then put two large metal grates above her windows and that became a shelf, with wicker baskets and all sorts of things piled on top; how cute!! There were real apples and fresh flowers and plants everywhere. She had two beautiful metal lamps on top of her table with a white urn; what a cleaver idea. I was fortunate enough to find a similar metal lamp at Warrenton this past Spring.

In the first bedroom, I love how she opened old books, added vintage ribbon and hung them on the wall like pictures. She then turned frames backwards, decoupaged the back with vintage book pages and hung them above her bed.

The second bedroom had old calendar pages hung like art on the wall and the groupings on her dresser were too pretty. She had a garden plant stand with glass vases and balls.

This has got to be my most favorite grouping in her whole house. In her entry, she had an old wicker settee, my favorite. I must have 6 settees in my house. Actually, my favorite were the iron legs and part of an iron chair between the frames; absolutely over the top!!

This was her outdoor potting shed; don't we all wish we had a potting shed that had a zinc tub with roses floating in it and pretty curtains, and a fabulous chandelier; in my dreams some day!!

The last picture was also her dining room again with a different view. We were there well over two hours and went through her house several times and I know I didn't get to see it all. That's not counting the time we spent driving there and back, but it was well worth it. I'm so inspired!!
