Smithville Texas

Do you know where Smithville Texas is? They say it's the best kept secret in Texas and it's also where the movie Hope Floats was filmed. We went there on July 4th, a slight detour on our way to Austin. It's about 40 miles from Austin and 18 miles from Bastrop Texas. We took the scenic route through Anderson, Brenham, and Round Top Texas. We shopped at several antique places, but our favorite shop was The Main Street Village in Smithville. Jan and Molly, the owners, were so nice. Please watch my blog for more information about this shop in future posts. If you are in the area, stop by for a visit. They are located at 216 Main Street. In the meantime, here are the pictures of their window displays, so pretty.

This is the house where the movie was filmed. It's located at the end of Olive Street and I believe it's changed some since the filming; the fence has been taken down, but it's still a pretty house.

Thanks to all who visit.

I'm so happy for you, that you insisted on porches, on the houses you've built.

Your porch in Summer ~ a picture idea? :-)

  12. I loved the movie, Hope Floats. It has my crush in it, Harry Connick, Jr. I will definitely have to make a trip that way some time to check it out. I knew that the movie was filmed here in Texas but wasn't sure exactly where. Thanks for sharing!
