White Wednesday with Oprah

Welcome to another one of Kathleen's White Wednesdays.  For today's post I wanted to share what inspired me to write this post.

Awhile back my mother bought me a subscription to the Oprah Magazine. This month's cover really spoke to me. Do you want to know why? Oh come on play along. Do you think it was the pretty pink flowers that caught my attention, well they did remind me of Spring, but no not it. You are getting closer.

So, do you think it was the white column in the background.  I do love a pretty white column.  They are so versitle and can be used anywhere.  No, not it, keep guessing.

Ok, do you think it was the pretty white mirror that you can barely make out in the background.  No, but I love it though.

Or the pretty white chairs with the pink flowers on top.  No, but that was a good guess.

Ok, I'll reveal what drew me to this issue.  It was the pretty white table that Oprah is sitting on.

I thought I've had a similar white table and have sold it for a good price before.  Maybe I should have kept it a bit longer and maybe could have gotten a few more dollars for it.  You know when something comes out in a magazine how it seems to skyrocket prices on things.  So, I got curious and decided to look at the shopping guide to see just how much the table was.

Are you sitting down?

The table is listed by Circa Antiques for $6800.00.  Yep, you read it right.  NO need to adjust the screen or get your reading glasses, that's the asking price.  Pocket change right?  Well, let me tell you, if I could possibly get even half that amount, heck I'd settle for a forth of that amount, I'd be one HAPPY CAMPER or Antiques Dealer.  Tell me what your thoughts are?  Would you pay this amount for a table like this?  It is fab, don't you think, but is it $6800 fab, that's my question.

Be sure and hop over to Kathleen's blog and check out the other White Wednesday participants.

  1. That's outrageous for a table!!! I was impressed with the cover myself when I saw it on the newstands. Very Pretty!

  2. Well, it is very pretty and the chairs are probably thrown in too. But still, I wouldn't even begin to pay that kind of price for a piece of furniture. We (junkers)know we can do much better!

  3. I'd pay that much over Love Bunny's dead body of course. Nuuuuuuu, never would I pay that much for a table. It isn't necessary, sugar! There are other beautiful white antique tables that cost far less.

I'm doing a post shortly on a subject that is near and dear to my heart about excess. I think you'll like it, sweets.

  4. That is just CRAZY! I too, think I've had a table very similar and sold it for a good price. Probably around $350.00. YIKES!

  5. You and I both know that is SO over the top on price! I think it's really interesting what people will pay at certain stores they shop. I think for some, it's more about "where" they buy it, then the actual cost. I have a difficult with it because so many people in our world are in such bad places in their lives right now, and a table like that sells for THAT much? Something is wrong here. Thanks for sharing.
    Take care, Sue

  6. I'd say they're in a very high rent neighborhood. I know that we've had tables like that & believe me, we didn't get quite that much out of it. Jan

  9. Oh no, no, no I couldn't or wouldn't. I wouldn't be able to eat for weeks if I did, so what would I need a table for?

  10. T,
I'm thinking you need to do some promoting to Oprah...Oprah-Warrenton, Warrenton-Oprah...my gosh just think of what $6,800 would buy there and from you!
    Have a great week

  11. Wow! Do you know how much cool junk I could get for that chunk of change. I'd rather have that than only one table any day. I've always said that even if I was rich I would still be a frugal shopper. I think it is just in my nature to be that way.

Enjoy your week and thanks for playing along.

  12. Maybe that's why they call it an "asking" price. You can ask. . .
Maybe it belonged to King Henry or something--

  15. What do you expect from someone who spends at least a $1000 on a pair of Louboutin's. $6800...chump change to her! I just wish I was the chump to get that change!

  16. WOW WOW WOW!!!! I would never in a million years..which is what Oprah is worth millions. Personally for me the thrill of the hunt is the best part and getting something I see for $6800 for as little as possible makes it even better.

Just think what you could buy with $6800, oh my.

  17. I have it saved as AU House and Garden but I too could not find it on their site. Maybe whom ever I saved it from did not have labeled correctly or maybe it is just burried so deep in the website we can't find it. I have had that pic for so long that I don't remember where I found it. Sorry, Heidi

  18. Well...I wouldn't spend that much, couldn't begin to either. But I did do a little shopping over at BarnHouseMarket this morning!

  19. Just crazy, but then us junkers know the where and how to put together an awesome "look" for just a few bucks. If that retail customer only knew, they'd have a fit!

  22. I would never pay that kind of money for any piece of furniture! Give me $50, paint, and sandpaper and I could have a very similar table
