This picture is of the first May Queen and her court in 1923. Why did things seem so much prettier back then. Look at all the pretty flowers and that wicker chair, isn't it fabulous! The crown on her head, at least from what I can tell, is pretty spectacular as well.
This is something I remember doing as a child, twirling around a May Pole. Hope the month of May brings you blessings, joy, and unexpected adventures. BTW, May just happens to be one of my most favorite months of the year, probably because it's my birthday month. I think I'll just celebrate all month, rather than the week before like I normally like to do. What ya think? Want to read more about May Day, click here.
Happy Month of May Birthday....and as a child we would take flowers to our teachers every 1st of May..
ReplyDeleteI can`t believe it`s the 1st of May already!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Month, I think celebrating all month sounds like the perfect idea! Pure Genious!! I love those pics, and I agree they really overdid themselves back then, everything was done with elegance and beauty in mind. One of the reasons I love blogging is finding blogs like yours that bring that art back. There is just so much inspiration here... you are at the top! Theresa

Happy Birthday Month to you! I fully agree that you should celebrate all month long. May Day is also my wedding anniversary. I like to think of it in a way as pretty as your photos, not the distress call "Mayday! Mayday!" that I hope my dear husband was calling out the day he pledged til death do us part. :) I'm loving May, too, because I'm a teacher and May means school is almost out. I hope to make it to Texas this summer. You all have the best stuff down there and I love reading all about it on your blog.
