You'll be able to see it at one of your Antique Events (check the side bar for where we'll be next). If you can't wait until then and it interests you, just send me an email. I also found two chandeliers, a very old cloth book, an old Tom's jar, and paint set, and a cabinet among other things. It was a good junkin day.
Sunday, it felt really good to go to Church. When we got home, I was really hungry for my aunt's "fried corn", so I decided to make it. When I was growing up one of the pleasures of summertime was getting to go to Family Reunions. You always knew there was going to be really good food there. It may have been hot, but not even the heat would keep you from visiting with family. One of the recipes I remember so fondly one of my aunts making was "fried corn". They always had a huge garden, which I could see from the road, even though it was at the back of their house. The corn seemed to stand so tall, you couldn't even see the person on the next row, or so it seemed.
When we have "fried corn" it is in a skillet with butter and milk, sweets. We looooove it and it is sooooo good with the milk.

OK, I guess I live too far north, I've never heard of fried corn, but it does sound good. And you know how much I love Eastlake, the bed is fantastic! Sounds like a great weekend!

What a lovely bed you found! I love the detailing on it and how wonderful to know some of it's history! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the bed! I love fried corn and actually bought corn today at the farmers market to fry. Sometimes we had milk to it. Yummy! Hope you are having a great weekend.

Hey! Just letting you know that I made that strawberry cake. The recipe was right on and the taste just as I remember it. Thanks for that and all the eye candy!
ReplyDeleteLove your wonderful bed! I have fond memories of family reunions and lots of experience picking corn on my grandparents farm..love to eat corn on the cob and even creamed corn, corn muffins and succotash....but I never heard of fried corn! I guess that's what happens when you come from the northeast! I have a feeling I would like it though! :)
