When it comes to decorating for Christmas each year, do you try and come up with a different theme each time or do you just let it happen as it speaks to you. I decided that this year to decorate very simple, using as much natural items as I could. Since I decided a few years back to not use a real tree, I miss the smell of Christmas pine. I have lots of vintage Christmas items that I also normally use, some from the victorian era, but I don't think that I'm going to pull it all out this time. I started out as you saw from the first post I did on my porch with the three white trees and then moved on to using more fresh greens, twigs, and just a few Christmas balls sprinkled throughout.
Here's the front door:
I did leave the white pumpkins, they are still so pretty to not use. Can you see I used simple cedar tree branches as my wreath with clear balls and angel wings inside them. I just grabbed a few angel wings as they passed over my house *wink*. They are actually doves wings from my family of doves. I have four doves now and I think she may be sitting on more eggs.
This is the side view of my porch:

I still have a few more small touches I'll be adding. Each week I'd like to show different Christmas decorating from a cottage Christmas to a homespun Christmas. Hope you'll check back for more Christmas ideas. Have a great week!!
Oh my I am liking what I see!! Gorgeous!! I kind of let it come to me as I go. I'm going with a more pared down natural look this year. Just got back from the greenhouse where I bought 75 feet of white pine garland, white spray painted branches and fresh cedar!! We'll see how it comes together!

I am passing out!! Everything is soooooo perfect! I love it! I decorated my booth today with simple touches. I loved how "simple" looked so wonderful!! I just got done posting the pics and in looking at everything , it's the sweet little springs of evergreen that are my fav! Soooo super easy!

OOOH! You have me wanting to decorate for Christmas! On my four hour trip home from my parents home, I was making notes and drawing my plans out feverishly while hubby drove!
ReplyDeleteLove all your pictures!

I am not sure how festive I am going to make it this year. We went to the warehouse today and I pulled out a few things to play with on the mantle. We will be in Illinois for the week before Christmas, so I am not sure I am going to put too much out. However, I do want it to 'feel' like Christmas. I like the use of greenery. I love the smell of fresh pine, but I also love the smell of rosemary. So I may add a rosemary tree.

ReplyDeleteI am going for a simple Christmas as well, sold my old stuf with plans to replace ornament and the tree this year. I gave away stuff and tress to some friends in need of one.
Now!! I find myself wondering what I will add to mine that I am replacing. I did create a tree all showing a form of art and will list it this week.
When I see your trees I wonder why I gave up everything to start over. I am taking on a simple, clean, and organized. That feels like some place I am not familiar with. I am spending way more time being creative, different, and recycled this year, the whole less is more thing :)
I wish I could be a guest walking up to your door, while taking in all your Christmas beauty!
see you soon, by the way thank you for your kind visit to my Merry Christmas sign.
xx
Cheers

SweetT...it's all lovely and soothing almost like the hush of snow falling.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much I'll be doing this year. Grayzilla has to have her tonsils out late December, so Christmas will be spent at the Oldest Melon Head's. I may just put up a little tree or maybe just the pink tree lit up.

Just beautiful, Theresa. Love it all lit up at night! Hope things are going well for you all.
