Longing For Spring

Many years ago I discovered Mary Randolph Carter's book, Garden JUNK, and just fell in love with this "view with a room" as she called it:

Now with the great weather we've been having, I'm longing to find vintage elements and create this room.  I could spend hours here.  Look at all the great elements.

Here's another view:

Look at what else she used:

Great vintage chairs and table and architectual things.

I'm linking up with Debra of Common Ground for this post.  Happy Vintage Friday to you.

  3. Oh, wow! I agree. I want it too! Hmmm... We have a gazebo we never use. Maybe we can take the roof off, do away with the seats all around, add some things here and there... I'll have to get that book. I have another book of hers and have poured over it again and again.

  4. You're reading my mind. Instead of a shed in the backyard, I've been dreaming of something like this, possibly with canvas flaps that roll up. Kind like a glam camp!

  10. Fun to see this brought up... I have always loved this space. One of my favorite look at over and over again books! Recently on a stormy day pulled out some of my old garden books and this one was on the stack :)

  15. Oh, I am so longing for Spring as the snow sits on the ground outside my window. I would love an area like this in my yard. I've never heard of this book and will have to check it out.

  20. Theresa,
Love these pictures! I have all of MRC books. She's awesome, someday I'll tell you a cool story about her. I wish I had the room in our backyard for a little salvaged sanctuary like that. Still trying to think of a way to make it to RT next month. It's been a bad winter so I'm not feeling good about it. I can't wait to see the blogs after tho & see every ones booths.
