Happy May Day

I love that today is the first day of May!  A new month brings new adventures and many celebrations this month.  There's of course Mother's Day, my birthday, Memorial Day and a sweet surprise that I can't wait to share with you.

As I watched the news this morning they were talking about May Day and how young girls would gather around and dance around the Maypole.  It was such a sweet tradition, girls in their beautiful white dresses dancing with long strands of beautiful ribbons.  There was much celebrating going on.  Sometimes I feel that we've lost the art of celebrating and we've allowed so many things to come into our lives to choke out celebrations.  Why not start the month off celebrating.

Here's to old traditions of celebrating May Day:

On another note, I was on Jennifer's site this morning and oh my you've got to check out Marilyn's beautiful home.  Wow, I was speechless.  She's part of the amazing crew that's in the beautiful shop A Beautiful Mess Antiques.  I got to meet Kim, the shop owner, and several others this past month in Warrenton.  I've known Marilyn for several years as she's shopped with me at Zapp Hall.  She's got great taste:

Now seeing her home makes me want to totally redo mine.   I also just bought some grey shutters this past weekend and now I'm wondering if I should sell them.  And as you will see you can never have enough ironstone platters.  Be sure and check out Jennifer's site for more great pics.

Speaking of my finds, here's a small preview of what I found this past weekend:

  1. Great post, and "Happy May Day"! Not sure how May got here so fast, but here we are. Can't wait to check out the two sites you posted links to. I did a post awhile back, I really think gray is going to be the "new" white pretty soon. We have different shades of gray popping up all over Country Roads! Have a wonderful day.

    Take care, Sue
