I normally like to do a review of my year toward the end of the year, so I feel like I'm starting this one late. There's just so much going on right now and I can't wait to share what all has been happening. Can you believe it's 2013?
January always starts us out on the Antique Show Road and this year is no different. We'll be at the Red Barn Winter Antique Show in Round Top Tx on January 18-19 (remember this show has changed this year and you can start shopping on Friday and Saturday, but there's no Sunday show).
Here's my booth at last January's show:
February took us to Seguin Tx to see The Curious Boys booth and to do some shopping with Beverly too. If you haven't checked out their blog, you should go there now. They've done a great job in the year they've been doing this. Beverly also has a blog and she hits the road often to find great things.
It was our first time to be at Urban Market Houston and what a great reception we received from both customers and fellow vendors. We'll be back at Urban Market this next February. It's not too early to make plans for this great show. Here was our booth:
We also were so fortunate to be able to attend Robin Brown of Magnolia Pearl's Fashion Show in Fredericksburg Tx at Carol Hicks Bolton's shop. What a magical time that was.
March started the beginning of the Spring Antique Shows in Texas. Little did I know it would be my last show at Zapp Hall. More on this later down. I have enjoyed being at Zapp Hall for probably over 8 years if not more. I lost count a long while ago. This was my booth at Zapp this past Spring:
These orange chairs really made my booth pop. They went to a good home in Austin. I couldn't thank Cheryl and Karen for all the opportunities they gave me at Zapp Hall. It's like one big family there and visiting them this past Fall was bittersweet to see all my friends there. I wish them the best.
You would think after being surrounded by all kinds of cool junk during Antiques week that I would want a break from it. But I'm always looking for inspiration and the next cool thing, so April took us back on the road to look for more treasures.
In May we were so fortunate to attend a preview party of The Junk Gypsies new TV Show. The preview party was held at their new Antique Shop in Round Top. Look at the fun we had:
You know anywhere Deb and Cat Daddy are there's going to be a good time! We were back at Urban Market in May and it was another great show there.
June took us back to Round Top for the Summer Antique Show at The Red Barn, take a look:
We had two booth this time and I definitely had enough merchandise to fill the two.
We spent our Anniversary in Fredericksburg in July. We decided since we were here to go ahead and set up at The Fredericksburg Trade Days. It was our first time there.
In July I was also offered the opportunity to set up at Marburger Farm Antique Show and to be their blogger. I was over the moon about this.
August found us back in Austin for the City Wide Garage Sale:
For September, we were back to set up at The Huntsville Antique Show. What a great time we had there and then it was time to get ready to head to Round Top for The Marburger Farm Antique show.
We spent over a week at Round Top and our first Marburger Farm Antique Show was so exciting. Here was my booth there:
It was a great experience to set up in a building. The Blogger Party there was also a lot of fun. The Spring Show will however find us in Tent A. Look for details exactly where we'll be at. The latter part of October found us back at Urban Market.
We hit the junkin trail in early November and then I couldn't hardly wait to see Ann Perry's magical open house. Here was her beautiful house:
Finally in December, we went to Judy Hill's Open House. I wish you could have seen just how beautiful it was. Here's a collage of pictures she posted on Facebook:
Of course the year had us celebrating birthdays and the death of loved ones. My husband also decided it was time for a new truck since we travel so much.
Who know what this next year will hold. I can actually retire this September, but I don't know that I will. I really love my job but the thought that I could do this business full time leaves me dreaming of many possibilities. All I know is that I want to lean on God more of where this life will take me. I also had been praying about a word for this year. I love to have a word to get me through the year. I don't know if you do this or not, I've done this for years. As I looked around me, in shops or on the road at billboards, this word kept coming up. So this past weekend when we were in Fort Worth at Lone Stars Antique Mall, there it was again:
I'll do a post soon of what I saw there.
I thought it would be fun to show you the Top Three most viewed posts this year:
Ann's Magical Christmas (with over 450 views)
Junk Gypsies & HGTV (with over 900 views)
New Marburger Farm post had over 1400 views.
I know this has been a long post but I wanted to share one more bit of news with you. The Antique Company Mall in McKinney, one of my favorite places, has new owners and...they have a blog. I hope you'll check out their blog and they are on Facebook too!
I'll be back to share the newest magazine that I was featured in. Really excited about this. I hope you all have an awesome New Year and are blessed in all you do.
